Jason Layton – Owner and Head Technician
Jason Layton is a 2x All-American Wrestler, a 2x NAGA Brazilian Jujitsu World Champion, and a member of MENSA from Long Island, New York.
Jason has been a student of wrestling since 1995 and has vigorously studied the technical side of the sport. In addition to hard work, Jason attributes much of his success to the years he spent under the tutelage of coaches Chris Edmonds (Division 1 National Champion), Tom Ryan (Division 1 National Finalist), Artie Weidler (Division 3 National Champion), and Master Francisco Mansor (Brazilian Jujitsu Red Belt [9th degree] under Helio Gracie).
One-on-one wrestling instruction has been Jason’s full-time job since 2008. Jason’s coaching goals include building Division 1 national champions from the ground up, improving Long Island wrestling, building champion youth wrestlers, and sharing his technical knowledge with the rest of the world.
Jason opened the Dynamic Wrestling Academy in 2014 where his dream continues.
Dave Baumgarten is a former All-Suffolk County (Scholastic) and AAU Junior Olympic Bronze Medalist (Freestyle), wrestler from Hauppauge High School. He continued on to wrestle at the collegiate level for Nassau Community College and Johnson & Wales University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management and Marketing.
Dave has been a student of wrestling since 1997, as well as a coach at all levels (youth to High School) since 2003. In addition, he received his coaching accreditation from the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) in 2010. Studying all aspects of the sport, he attributes much of his wrestling knowledge to his mentors and former coaches, Chris Messina (Hauppauge HS), Jerry Goodfellow (Division 3 National Champion), Chris Edmonds (Division 1 National Champion), while crediting his father, Alan Baumgarten, for molding his overall sports philosophies and tactics.
With numerous accolades in his coaching career, including building multiple sectional, state, and regional champions in both New York and Rhode Island, he remains focused on his passion and true purpose. Dave’s goal is to guide young athletes along their path into successful adults, which still continues to serve as his sole motivation.
